The Greenhaven-Pocket area is a City of Sacramento community. It is located along Interstate 5 on the east and a semi-circular "pocket" bend in the Sacramento River about 10 minutes south of downtown Sacramento. Entering the Greenhaven-Pocket community from the south along Interstate 5, visitors are greated by a large water tower with the words "Sacramento, City of Trees" painted on it; this marks the southern boundary of the City of Sacramento.
Before being developed the Greenhaven/Pocket area was a rural farmland. It was first developed as a planned community in 1962. Greenhaven/Pocket includes 18 community parks, several gated communities, shopping and great schools.
